Hi, Iā€™m Happy Peris, founder of Highland College Consulting.

My expertise is helping students write meaningful essays that conveys their potential to the admissions committee. The essay portion of the Common Application has increased in importance as more schools move to test-optional submissions. It also is an area which many students struggle to complete with confidence and purpose.

I have developed a framework that allows students to quickly identify stories unique to them so the strength of their essays matches the strength of their application. Each student has something valuable to offer to their future college. I help students find their voice in order to articulate their goals, contributions and aspirations. For parents, it is knowing their student is staying on track as they juggle their schoolwork, extracurricular activities, service requirements and jobs. College is a big investment, emotionally and financially. My philosophy is to be a good steward of your goals by helping you understand the process and stay on top of the rapidly changing educational landscape.

My Background:

I am based in Saint Paul, MN and work primarily with families in the Twin Cities and throughout the Midwest. My career began in corporate communications and when I left to raise my family, I stayed very active in literacy programs and as a writing tutor for high school and college students.

For the last five years, I also have volunteered to help first-generation and underrepresented students at Cristo Rey Jesuit High School navigate college applications and scholarships. They presented me with the St. Kateri Tekakwitha Award for service to the community.

Whether we meet in-person or remotely, I keep students on track to meet application deadlines and give them a sense of control and purpose over the application process. I am a graduate of Marquette University with a B.A. in Journalism and belong to the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA).
